Riverfront real estate values are on the rise thanks to local wineries.
When searching for vacation homes for sale, or looking for real estate investments, there are always many factors which need to be taken into consideration. What will this community be like when it is completed? Who are the developers, and what is their track record with this kind of development? How quickly will this riverfront real estate enable me to realize a positive return on my investment? While these are all good questions which must have suitable answers before any investment is made, one should also consider the joys and serenity of actually living in a master-planned community. Think about what it would be like to live in paradise on the shores of the serene Columbia River, partaking in all of the summer, winter and water sports this temperate climate offers. Picture yourself spending time with family and friends exploring the local community, enjoying the nightlife, or just relaxing around a crackling fire. Imagine how it would feel to relax on your patio or deck while sipping a glass of wine which you just discovered at one of the local wineries in Wenatchee.
Rio Vista Shores offers all of this and more that will meet your investment criteria and fulfill your relaxation dreams. Our Columbia River Resort Community may be one of the last opportunities to take advantage of this incredible Wenatchee acreage which offers such stunning views and top-flight living. Located just South of Wenatchee in Central Washington and approximately 90 miles east of Seattle, this stretch of river valley is very popular with vacation and second home buyers alike. You will be in good company as other current master-planned communities just south of the project site include Crescent View Condominiums, Crescent Bar condos, and the Sunserra Resort. All three communities are quite successful, with low turnover and immediate access to numerous area amenities. In addition to immediate access to the river and water sports, there are numerous pedestrian related walking paths, golf, and wine-tasting at area wineries. Such pent-up demand indicates that a project like Rio Vista Shores will be quickly embraced by families looking for full or part-time vacation housing located on one of the last pristine stretches of the river in this area.

You will be able to kick back and enjoy a wonderful glass of wine along with some of Wenatchee’s great sunshine. Many wineries offer tours, though some by reservation only. Visit several of the area’s wine tasting rooms to experience the best of Washington wines for yourself! Here are a few of our favorites:
Cave B Estate Winery – Top Winery in Wenatchee
Cave B Estate Winery is an award-winning boutique winery located in the Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) in the very center of Washington State Wine Country. They grow an unusually broad range of varietals, made possible in large part by the microclimates existing at their distinctive cliff-side location, 900 feet above the Columbia River. Winemaker, Alfredo “Freddy” Arredondo selects only the very best fruit from the estate vineyards. A former chef, Freddy brings a deep understanding of the beauty of wine and food pairing to his winemaking process. His great passion is marrying Cave B wines and their companion brands, Caveman Red wines and Cavewoman White wines, in a dynamic way with foods. Cave B is all about creating fine wines which enable wonderful wine experiences. The Tasting Room and Gift Shop are open 4-7 days a week, depending on the season, with the tasting room offering both standard wine tastings and barrel tastings. The gift shop includes a selection of wine-themed gifts, jewelry, cheese, crackers and home accessories. Adjacent to the popular concert venue, The Gorge Amphitheater, Cave B Estate Winery and its over 100 acres of estate vineyard share with the concert venue one of Washington State’s most awe-inspiring natural settings. Mark your calendars for their annual Harvest Festival at Cave B on Saturday, October 4. Hay rides, vineyard tours, and grape stomps, along with terrific wine and food are always a terrific family event! Their address is 348 Silica Road NW, Quincy, WA 98848. Winery tours are available by appointment, but maps are also available for self-guided vineyard tours. Visit the website and Facebook page or call 509-785-3500 for more information.
White Heron Cellars – Top Winery in Wenatchee
White Heron Cellars and Mariposa Vineyards are located in the ghost town of Trinidad, between Quincy and Wenatchee. The vineyard and winery overlook the Columbia River, Crescent Bar resorts, and the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Deep well-drained soils, southern slopes, excellent air drainage, and a ring of hills surrounding the site make for an exceptional vineyard location. Varieties grown here include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Syrah, Rousanne and Viognier. Phyllis and Cameron Fries, the vintners and owners of White Heron Cellars, are both Washington natives. They met and graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. They moved to Switzerland for five years where Cameron attended wine making and viticultural schools, with Phyllis’ support. The wines from White Heron reflect Central European wine making styles. The Fries returned to Spokane in 1984. Cameron was the wine maker at Worden’s winery for two years and then assumed wine making duties at Champs de Brionne winery from 1986 through 1990. Summer 2014 Events scheduled for their outdoor amphitheater include a Bread Cheese & Cured Meat Festival on August 16, a Veritas Medieval Faire on August 23, Chef Extravaganza on September 12, and a Shellfish Festival on October 4. White Heron’s tasting room is inside their wine making and bottling facility. Located at 23832 Fine Wine Road NW in Quincy, the facility overlooks the vineyard and the Columbia River gorge. Rio Vista Wines – Top Winery in Wenatchee
Rio Vista Wines, the Winery on the River, is a hidden jewel on the banks of the sparkling Columbia River, and the only waterfront winery you can visit by car, boat or float plane. The French have a saying that the best wines come from grapes grown along a river. That’s certainly true at Rio Vista Wines. Their grapes thrive and flourish in the exceptional micro climate created by the river, the long hot summer days, the moderate winters and the unique geology of the glacial soil. It’s a great place for people to thrive and flourish, too. Winemaker John Little, with help from his wife, Jan, is at the reins in all phases of the grape-growing and wine-making process. John grew up on a farm in Port Angeles, WA, under the shadow of Hurricane Ridge. He spent his time milking cows when he wasn’t sneaking off to do a little fishing in the creeks near the farm. He was, however, exposed to wine at a young age and enjoyed a sip or two of his grandfather’s homemade fruit wine on holidays. John graduated from Central Washington University and taught school in Seattle for 9 years, but the big city was not where his heart lay. He realized that farming was the profession that held the most interest for him so he and Jan and their four children moved to Eastern Washington where they purchased an apple orchard which he farmed for ten years. During that time he also began experimenting with wine making. After the orchard, John worked as head carpenter at Wenatchee Valley College and retired in 2004. Jan retired from teaching at the same time. They then moved full time to Rio Vista and became serious winemakers. John is a believer that good wine is made in the vineyard and the wine’s ultimate potential comes from the winemaker’s skills and practices in the field. He does it all, from pruning to wine making and making all the important decisions that go with it.
Available wines include Rio Vista Ice Wine, Chardonnay, Riesling Estate, Sunset On The River, Wacky White, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Loony Red, and more. Upcoming events at the winery include “Boating For Boobs,” a breast cancer fund raiser in early August; the Lake Chelan Crush during the 1st and 2nd weekends in October, where guests are invited to sample the harvested grapes, taste the wine, lend a hand or just watch the activities; and Thanksgiving In Wine Country, during the weekend following Thanksgiving. Located at 24415 SR 97 in Chelan, Rio Vista Wines is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays 12:00 to 5:00 and Fridays and Saturdays 12:00 to 6:00. After visiting the tasting room at Rio Vista, you might enjoy browsing through the art gallery featuring the works of water-colorist Kerry Siderius. She offers original works, artist signed and numbered limited edition prints, and gallery wrapped canvas. Visit the website and Facebook page or call 509-682-9713 for more information.
